The following is a guideline for athletes joining the wrestling team at Lake Brantley High School. To be considered for the junior varsity and varsity teams, an athlete should meet the following requirement:
1. Be willing to make a commitment to wrestling from the first day of practice (October 23, 2006) until the end of February. Practice sessions are each day after school from 2:45 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. There is practice the day after Thanksgiving and during Winter Break (8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.) as well, as student non-attendance days during season.
2. Be willing to practice every day to continually raise your level of conditioning and skills.
3. Be willing to study and learn the basic rules and techniques of wrestling.
4. Turn in all medical, physical and team paperwork prior to the start of the season (October 23, 2006).
5. Experience needed: None, just desire and drive to become a better athlete and person.
6. Equipment needed: Team members furnish their own wrestling shoes, practice gear (T-shirt, shorts and towel). The team will supply competition uniforms, warm-up suits and headgear. Some wrestlers choose to purchase their own headgear.
7. The Patriot Wrestling Team does not cut participants. However, missing practice, lack of communication with coaches or breaking the team contract may result in an athlete being release from the team.
All athletes participating in other school sports that may overlap the start of the wrestling season may join the team at the completion of their season.
